About
our company

GTX Lock & Key is proud to serve the Galveston community with reliable, transparent, and detail-oriented locksmith services. The company was founded after owner Rick Arguelles took over Key Works Lock & Safe — a trusted local name that had been serving Galveston since 2010, itself succeeding the long-running Southern Keys. With over 14 years of combined locksmith and emergency response experience, Rick brings a calm, capable approach to every job, big or small.

Before opening GTX Lock & Key, Rick spent eight years as a paramedic, where he learned the importance of professionalism, communication, and trust under pressure. He later developed his locksmith skills under the mentorship of the previous Key Works owner starting in 2012 — what began as curiosity soon became a full-time passion. When that owner moved out of the area, Rick took over the business, continuing its legacy of honest, community-rooted service.

Local Expertise You Can Trust

Operating in Galveston brings unique challenges and rewards. From century-old historic homes to salt-air corrosion on coastal properties, every job requires care, precision, and local know-how. Rick takes pride in protecting and preserving Galveston’s history whenever possible — restoring and repairing original doors and hardware rather than simply replacing them.

Our Philosophy

At GTX Lock & Key, the goal is simple: keep people safe and happy. Rick often says he “solves puzzles for a living,” and approaches every task — from refurbishing a historic lock to programming a modern key fob — with the same patience and attention to detail. Honesty and communication are at the heart of his work: from your first call to completion, you’ll always know what’s happening and why.

In a world where misleading “$29 locksmith” ads often turn into $400 scams, GTX Lock & Key stands apart by being straightforward and fair. Even if you decide not to book, Rick will gladly offer guidance to help you find the right direction — because if you can’t trust your locksmith, you need a new one.

Island-Wide Reputation

GTX Lock & Key is a locally owned operation, serving homes, businesses, condos, and property managers throughout Galveston Island and the nearby coastal communities. With deep roots in the area since 2010, Rick believes in earning repeat business the right way — through quality work, fair pricing, and genuine respect for his customers’ time and property.

If you find yourself locked out, in need of rekeys, or facing a security concern, GTX Lock & Key is here to help you find peace of mind and get back to your day.
